Who Can Submit?

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in Energy Studies Review provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. General Submission Rules

INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Authors are invited to submit material to Energy Studies Review on any aspect of the production and use of energy: energy policy, energy technology, experimental and theoretical research, and environmental and social effects of energy utilization. Manuscripts may be in English or French. Because ESR is an interdisciplinary journal, uncommon professional and technical terms should be avoided if possible. Where they are necessary they should be defined in the text or a footnote. Extensive mathematical or chemical formulae are discouraged.

The Review's articles are refereed by anonymous reviewers in the usual manner. Articles will normally be from 4,000 to 10,000 words in length.

Please submit your article on line and follow the instructions at our website: http://digitalcommons.mcmaster.ca/esr

Please do not include the author name and contact information as a footnote.

An abstract of no more than 100 words should be provided with each article, along with KeyWords. Please keep all formatting (indentation, alignment, etc) to an absolute minimum.

ALL Figures, Table, Diagrams and Photos must be in black and white and provided in a Word supported graphics format. The preferred location of figures should be embedded in the text in the form <

>. The text, numbers, and legend associated with a figure must be large enough to be visible when that figure is reduced to a size of approximately 4 x 4.5" (20 x 18cm).

Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals. They may be included in the text or in separate computer files, however their desired location should be indicated in the text in the form: <>.

Footnotes may be used and should be referred to in the text by Arabic numeral super¬scripts. Simple citations should not be footnoted (see References and Citations below).

Article References should be listed alphabetically by author at the end of the text in the following manner: - no spaces between author initials; - titles of articles in single quotation marks with a comma inside the endquote mark; - all book and journal titles italicized (preferably) or underlined; - year of publication placed in brackets with no punctuation around it (the year should be distinguished by a lower-case letter if more than one reference is listed for the same author(s) in one year); - for journals: Journal Name volume:number:page-page; - for books: (City: Publisher) page-page; For example: Author, A.A. and B.B. Author (1992) 'Article Title' in C.C. Author (ed.) Book Title (City:Publisher) pp.125-43. Author, A.A., B.B. Author and C.C. Author (1992a) 'Article Title,' Journal Name (unabbreviated) 5:2:125-43. Citations of publications in the References should be in parentheses in the text by the author's last name and year of publication, for example: Smith and Jones (1992) or (Smith and Jones, 1992). Use a lower-case letter to distinguish between publications for authors with more than one publication in a year, as in (Smith and Jones, 1992b).

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. In addition, by submitting material to Energy Studies Review, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at Energy Studies Review. If you have concerns about the submission terms for Energy Studies Review, please contact the editors.
