About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The International Journal of Risk and Recovery publishes research and practice-based articles for academics and clinicians. The scope of the journal is to cover forensic psychiatric and medico-legal issues with a particular focus on risk and innovation in rehabilitation in forensic mental health.

Peer Review Process

The International Journal of Risk and Recovery uses a double-blind peer-review process. The editor will assess each submission before sending it for a full peer review by at least one other reviewer.

The editor will select reviewers based on their area of expertise (e.g., psychiatry, psychology, psychotherapy, law, corrections) and their ability to provide a scientific opinion on the quality of the manuscript. Reviewers are expected to provide their comments to the editor within one month of being invited.

The editor will make the final decision to accept or reject a submission. Once the article is submitted, the author should receive the editor's decision within two months.

Publication Frequency

The publication schedule is twice per year.

Once an article has been accepted, it will undergo several steps before publication in the journal, including copyediting and layout. The last step is the proofreading by the authors. Once this is done, and while awaiting publication in the next issue, it will be accessible under the In Press section.

Open Access Policy

The International Journal of Risk and Recovery provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
